Water & Garbage Service

Garbage pickup is early Friday morning. Recycling is voluntary.

Water rates are based on usage with a minimum fee of $20.00 (6000 gallons and under); $3.50 per 1000 gallons thereafter.

Garbage rates are $63.00 for a single person household or entire household is age 65 or older; and $87.00 for two (2) or more person household. Single/Age 65 or Family, along with the corresponding charge, is noted on your quarterly bill. Please notify Village Hall if there is an error or your household status changes.

Combined service billing is calculated quarterly (4 times a year) – February, May, August and November.

You Can Pay Your Water & Garbage Bill Several Ways

The Village of Leland offers a safe and secure way to pay your water bill. You may sign up to make your quarterly payments directly from your personal checking or savings account of your choice. Click here to download the Direct Debit Sign Up form. Complete the form with all necessary information, sign, and attach a voided check (for checking account withdrawal) or voided savings deposit slip (for savings account withdrawal). Return all required documents to Village Hall for processing.

Payments in the form of cash, check or money order may be made in person at Village Hall during normal business hours, mailed to Village Hall, or placed in the locked and secure drop box in front of Village Hall. We recommend placing your bill stub and payment in an envelop.

Payments are also accepted at Resource Bank in Leland.

Payments MUST be received by the due date or a Late Fee of $25.00 will apply. All charges should be paid in full by the end of the billing quarter to avoid triggering the water shut-off procedures.

Hydrant Flushing

The Village and the Fire Department flush fire hydrants periodically between March 1 and November 1 each year.

Next hydrant flushing dates will be posted on this website and at the Leland Post Office giving more specific information.

CAUTION: Water in the system will be rusty during the flushing and for a period of time after the flushing as taken place.
