Residents

Dear New Leland Resident,

Welcome to Leland!  We are thrilled you have chosen to join our community.  Established in 1859, the Village of Leland has a rich history, and we are excited that you will be a part of it.

Leland is located in LaSalle County in the North-Central region of Illinois surrounded by beautiful agricultural farmland.  We are conveniently less than 30 minutes from Yorkville, Mendota, Ottawa and Plano, approximately 63 miles from Chicago and about 20 miles from the scenic Starved Rock State Park.

Our community is focused on revitalizing our downtown area with the help of our Village Board, Zoning and Planning Board, and an independent resident-led Economic Development Committee. We believe you will see promising changes in the near future.

Leland is a close-knit community with many active organizations that are making a difference for our residents.  Leland CUSD No. 1 provides progressive K-12 education programs that prioritize children’s learning, safety and well-being.  For those looking for a place to worship, both the United Methodist Church and Bethany Lutheran Church offer youth groups and various ways to get involved beyond Sunday services.  Bethany Lutheran also offers the First Step Preschool.

Please visit our website for information on many of our wonderful organizations, as well as a link to the Village of Leland ordinances. If you have any questions about a specific ordinance or need clarification on permit requirements, feel free to contact Village Hall.
