America 250 Illinois

In 2026, our nation will mark the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence a moment to reflect on our history, honor the ideals of freedom and democracy, and look ahead to the future we are building together. Across the country, communities are planning celebrations to recognize this historic milestone.

Here in the Village of Leland, founded in 1859, we are proud to join in this commemoration. For more than 165 years, Leland has been a small town with a big heart, a place where neighbors care for each other, traditions matter, and community pride runs deep. As America turns 250, we will celebrate not only our nation’s story, but also the history and resilience of our own hometown.

The Village has formed a Leland America 250 Committee to plan events and activities leading up to and throughout July 2026. These will include community gatherings, historical reflections, and celebrations designed to bring people together and showcase the best of Leland.
